It was late at night, late in November 2021, the Speaker of the House of Representatives specially allowed a bill to pass without any select committee scrutiny, without a variety of expert advice, without public submissions..... to mandate covid so-called vaccines on to workers...

Then the following February, while around 2,000 people were camping on parliament's front lawn, enjoying nightly broadcasts of Barry Manilow, courtesy of Mr Speaker, the High Court said that the mandates were against the Bill of Rights - but strictly only for military and police....

Now how could the same Bill of Rights only apply to just one category of workers, but not apply to everyone else in the same way? In this sense I would say that Cooke's judgement was a little too tentative and overly cautious...(though granted, in this, I guess, he was observing comity...)

But then no one in the government picked up on the point....

Not one of our Representatives was prepared to stand up for our basic rights.....

It was worse than that William. The bully Trevor sprayed the protestors with water at night; obviously not giving a damn if it caused pneumonia or worse, for his fellow citizens.

Look, the main point is that our parliamentarians failed to protect our rights, in recognition of the importance of that High Court judgement, when was it, around 24 February 2022. Despite the High Court judgement stating clearly that vaccine mandates were fundamentally against specific rights as in the NZ Bill of Rights.

And also without considering that many of the protestors at that time camping in the Parliament grounds had lost their employment due to the very same mandates...

And more than that, the whole scenario was due to the failure of Parliament to give proper consideration to the relevant bill in the first place, - the whole process was inadequate, - but we don't have our Legislative Council there to order the House of Representatives to correct their procedural errors...

And neither did our Governor General make any effort to defend the people's rights, - but gives his or her signature liberally in exchange for a fine salary, without taking responsibility for the real interests of the people..

At least that's how I see it; John may wish to comment further, for which I would be fully grateful,

In my view, neither Parliament nor the Courts are doing a decent job protecting NZers' basic civil rights. Activist judges like the deceased Lord Robin Cooke and pseudo-intellectual snobs like Sir Geoffrey Palmer are always trying to chip away at Parliamentary sovereignty and hold up the Courts (judges) as some sort of ultimate guardians of NZers' rights. But the Supreme Court's decision in the Defence Force Covid Vax case clearly demonstrates that the Courts are at least as great a threat to our rights as Parliament...in my opinion

Those senior Counsel and Judges who live in the hermetically sealed bubble of Marxism are immune to facts, lived experience, commonsense, contradiction and refutation and thus step out into the unreality of the imaginery abyss of the Pleroma. This is yo witness the closing of the Western Mind. The name Glazenbrook is short hand for the foregoing.

I think we need a max term (like 5 years) for Supreme Court Judges, because they do quickly lose touch with reality/the real world, living in their Ivory Towers

The rising evidence that the Covid (I hesitate to call it a vaccine) shot is more of a danger to health than a benefit makes this decision by Glazebrook and co a disgraceful miscarriage of justice.

Short needs to be removed from command of the Defence Force for his blatant pigheadedness and stupidity. Is he a DEI appointment?

The Bill of Rights now has by this decision been proven to be nothing but an ineffective piece of paper, offering no protection for our citizens.

We need strong political leadership to stand up to these Marxist activist judiciary, hell bent on destroying our democracy.

Sadly I see no one with the gumption to do it.

Back in the 90's I remember Una Jagose being pilloried by members of a law firm I worked for. How times have changed. NZ is not a meritocracy.
