Sooo many ire-inducing pearls, I don't know where to start. As for the brave Polynesians who took on the elements in search of a better life (or to avoid being eaten, take your pick) by virtue of their "knowledge of the stars and their skill in finding the rhythm of the current" (barf), how come (some of) their descendants can't even find a job? More likely they paddled out for 10 minutes, then lay back for a week letting the current carry them south. Maori wonderfulness! Ah, if we could bottle and export it, all our financial woes (thank you, Labour) would be over.

Thank you again John for your appalling revelations about Wellington. We used to love coming down to our Capital but it is hard to believe the outright corruption which your columns continually allude to. I took a look at that very expensive Library website and it was exactly as expected and very similar to The NZ Public Service https://www.publicservice.govt.nz/ website.

And I guess we can only hope that a strengthened victory for NZ First & ACT at the next election will bring about some cost-cutting measures. Someone mentioned the other day how the French used the Guillotine on their intellectuals and I saw a corollary there.......
