Free speech is a fundamental right to be celebrated in free democratic societies… no one ever has to agree, they but need to critically think … another fundamental that flourishes within the framework of a free democratic society… in circumstances of dissent the wise man can always choose to remain silent … this tends to remove much of the oxygen from discord. Do I agree with Owen’s on anything … probably not… should she be banned … what the fuck for??? Are we scared to put up countervailing views and counterfactual evidence?

One of my many bugbears I can't shake is that members of a pretty much invented tribe, Ngai Tahu, have exclusive dominion over all of a naturally occurring type of South Island jade rock and any non-Ngai Tahu grabbing a bit of that rock gets jailed. What a crock
