2. I understand the ute was written off, or it has never been parked there again. Her vehicle was also written off and wouldn't have been covered by insurance. She was probably over the speed limit.
3. Kiri was travelling north (and then west), presumably returning to where she resided when in central Wellington. 23 July 2023 was a Sunday. So where was she drinking, etc.? At the time of the crash, any licensed drinking establishment east or south of the crash location in Wellington was closed, most for at least an hour, if not earlier. Someone, whether in a licensed or private location, should have been the responsible host and definitely not have let her drive. Why wasn’t this investigated?
4. To locate her after she had fled on foot from the scene, a dog unit was called out. She was eventually found, hiding, in the park at the northern end of the start of the Southern Walkway on Oriental Parade. I saw this activity happening from where I live in Wellington.
You have confirmed my understanding, that the Govt-owned vehicle she was driving was written off.
Given she was intoxicated, if the vehicle was insured, the claim would be declined.
So, am I right to assume that we, the taxpayers, had to pay for a replacement vehicle??
WHY the heck wasn't she held accountable and made to pay for the damage she caused? As John has recorded, the Courts only made her pay a token amount towards the severely damaged ute she hit.....

I wish I could be more optimistic, but when a system hits a tipping point (event horizon) there is no turning back. Once a country has enough regulators corrupted /co-opted there is too much corruption for the country to ever recover itself from, the mechanism that removed corruption has itself become corrupted. I think NZ reached this point many years ago. You can't vote you way out the election will be rigged, you can't sue you way out the courts have gone the same way. Then its just removing the band aid, faster is always better than slower. If you think NZ is not too far gone, sure by all means fight, but for me its too far gone. Only riots in the street will weed out the rot at this point. Jacinta Ardern only left when it was apparent no amount of personal security could protect her from being terminated in NZ.
