All the stupid leftists awareness days, weeks months are directed to mono-manical consciousness raising occasions. It seem to me that first Ms Gunn is in breach of her employment agreement and perhaps susceptible to the tort of psychological battery.

I agree Graham. It's a feature of most of these fathead freaks that their unshakeable belief in their articles of faith is not - as far as I can see - back by any deep understanding of the origins of their divisive crapulence. They've just unwittingly, unthinkingly absorbed it.

After loosing heart in the new Te Whariki curriculum I retrained as a Montessori teacher, happily tutoring new students in this wonderful philosophy, still incorporating Te Whariki as was the requirement from the Ministry for registration, until Hekia Parata and Anne Tolley - (National ministers of education!) They demanded that the Montessori curriculum be rewritten to reflect 65+% Māori and Pacifica or be excluded from receiving any small amount of government ECE funding and registration. I was asked to help rewrite the Montessori curriculum which I flatly refused. How could anyone rewrite what was a geniuses life time of work studying children and producing a world wide curriculum that is successful where ever it is implemented. Even the rewritten version put the kibosh on Montessori schools in this country, (their aim all along!) much to the detriment of our children and their families. However my mental health has improved immensely by being away from this perpetually destructive Ministry of Education overreach.

Do we actually need an official early childhood curriculum? Surely what is required of children at this age is to facilitate natural development of basic life and social skills, imaginative play and early reading and numbers. Parents who want a spiritual or religious element will choose providers accordingly.
