A Leftie Lifer lurches back into the political frame

Andrew Little is considering standing to be Mayor of Wellington, in the upcoming October 2025 local body election. Little is a former leader of the Labour Party and Labour Government Minister.

Responding on social media to Little’s announcement, current Wellington Mayor Tory Whanau - who is standing for re-election - posted that Wellingtonians “need continuity right now”. Continuity is of course not a “right now” thing. But ignoring that, the last thing Wellingtonians want or need is any continuation of Whanau’s mayoralty, or continuity in the current composition of the Wellington City Council. Wellington’s innocent passengers couldn’t cope with another Wahine Disaster.

So let’s examine Little’s credentials for the Wellington mayoralty.

Former Prime Minister Chris Hipkins was uncharacteristically accurate when he said, “No one can doubt Andrew’s left-wing credentials, he’s a true Labour Party stalwart”. Chippie added, “He hasn’t sought [the Labour Party’s] endorsement at this stage”, and that’s the way Labour and the Greens operate, in local government circles. They promote candidates who are overtly political partisan and endorsed.

Little has been a lifetime politician. He simply knows no other life.

He was president of the Victoria University and New Zealand Students’ Associations. He became national secretary of the Engineers’ Union and the President of the Labour Party.

Little entered Parliament as a Labour list Member of Parliament in 2011. He could never win an electorate seat.

Shortly after becoming an MP, Little exhibited his predilection to defame others. (Defaming others is telling deliberate, damaging lies about them.) Little (together with how-the-hell-can-he-still be-Ambassador-to-Ireland Trevor Mallard) defamed Judith Collins, falsely accusing her of leaking the name of a privacy breach victim to blogger Cameron Slater. Little/Mallard could not defend, and had to settle, Collins’ legal action.

Little ascended to Labour Party leadership in 2014 and performed…abysmally. Even the pro-Labour Dominion Post lamented that "he has little charisma and a lack of new ideas".

In 2017, Little defamed again, this time falsely accusing a philanthropic hotel-owning couple, the Hagamans, of corruption. As with Collins, the Hagamans successfully sued Little for defamation. (Who pays his bills?)

Later in 2017, Little handed the Labour Party leadership to Jacinda Ardern (Remember her? Trying to forget?). Labour Party stalwarts described the Little surrender of the reins as “selfless”, but he was mainly just giving himself a more hope of remaining in power after the 2017 election.

Just because we’re paranoid doesn’t mean they’re not after us…

Under the Labour/New Zealand First/Greens coalition government and the subsequent Labour-only autocracy, Little busied himself in multiple ministerial roles, not least in abusing the Christchurch Mosques Massacre. Little callously sought to turn the massacre into a Trojan horse to expand State surveillance of New Zealanders. As Minister responsible for the Government Communications Bureau, Little told Radio New Zealand in 2019 “I have given authority to the agencies to do intrusive activities under warrant, the number of those (warrants) I’m not at liberty to disclose".

Labour certainly didn’t like liberty. In 2020, Labour appointed Little as its “Lead Coordination Minister for the Government's Response to the Royal Commission's Report into the Christchurch Mosques Massacre”. The masked one on the left is the former head of New Zealand’s Security Intelligence Service, Rebecca Ketteridge. She’s now serving under – as Deputy Public Service Commissioner, and not literally, as far as I know – Sir Brian Cockroach.

Ketteridge was the one who, as NZ’s Suzerain Spook, agreed with the disbanded Disinformation Project that mothers who plait their daughters’ blond hair are probably Nazis. I went through Victoria University law school with Little and Kitteridge. They weren’t, even back then, the types of people who could be trusted to wield significant power over their fellow citizens.

As with Ardern, Little is, by nature, innately and profoundly authoritarian. On his retirement from national politics following Labour’s 2023 election defeat, Little admitted his "one regret" was not completing “reforms” to (i.e., nuclearization of) New Zealand's national security sector following the 2019 Christchurch mosques massacre. Which is a decidedly odd regret, given the massacre did not result from any failure in New Zealand’s internal spy agencies. The Mosques Massacre was the tragic result of the Police unlawfully issuing a firearms licence to the recently arrived, homicidal Australian oddball – murderer Brenton Tarrant.

Little’s dream Utopia is an Aotearoan State that monitors each New Zealander’s every move and utterance, and creates a citizenry of paranoid curtain twitchers and snitchers.

In reality, Labourites and Greenies want Stasi-esque State surveillance for such invented evils as “hate speech”. They want State Spooks to “find” evidence corroborating such preposterous nonsense as Sanjana Hattotuwa’s allegation that, as you read this, dark forces are conducting a genocide on the “Trans community” of Aotearoa. At core, Little is just one of many discombobulating weirdos who superficially project as solid and sensible, right until they veer off on another crazy tangent.

A Little Reefer Madness

A prime example of Little laterality came in connection with New Zealand’s production of medicinal cannabis. In 2021, New Zealand was operating under an orderly transitional regime, with therapeutic hooch being legally produced and producers having to apply to the Government for permanent regulatory approvals.

With multiple local producers waiting on pending regulatory applications and the Health Ministry sitting on its hands, Little - out of the blue - refused to extend the transition period. Little’s callous contrarianism left in the lurch legions of New Zealanders who had been benefiting from – and in many cases relying on - prescribed therapeutic use of cannabis products.

Little’s capriciousness left these unfortunate folk either instantaneously bereft of their marijuana medicines, or – if they wanted to remain above the law - having to pay exorbitantly for exactly the same products imported from overseas suppliers. To boot, established New Zealand producers were forced to destroy their (perfectly fine) existing stocks. In practice, Little delivered existing medical cannabis patients into the eager hands of criminal drug gangs.

In the face of universal condemnation of his bizarre assault on a nascent New Zealand medical industry and its existing beneficiaries, Little stood his ground, falsely asserting that the medical marijuana mess was simply because existing suppliers “didn’t get off their asses”.

A blast from the Commie past

Little also emanates a distinct whiff, down through the decades, of Comintern (Communism International). Comintern was (is?) a globalist Communist organisation fanatically committed to the abolition of the nation state, with a special emphasis on indoctrinating global youth.

Comintern was generally thought to be extinct, but in 2017, as Labour Party leader, Little conspired to conjure up the ghost of Comintern. He arranged for overseas students to come and stay in New Zealand, to join their Young Labour New Zealand comrades and help campaign for Labour in the lead-up to the 2017 general election. When confronted about the inappropriateness of co-opting foreign nationals to campaign for Labour, Little lied that the “volunteers” were in New Zealand simply to learn about the New Zealand political system.

Carrier of the Wahine Disaster flame?

In significant respects, Little is abundantly qualified to inherit the Wellington mayoralty from Troubled & Truculent Tory. In particular, Little shares Whanau’s preternatural ability to gather and vaporize buckets of others’ money and wreck essential public services and infrastructure.

As Minister of Health, Little – in the midst of the COVID plandemic – drove a disastrous restructuring of New Zealand’s whole public health system. Little’s fraught foray included spending $2 billion on NZ”s mental health system, money which disappeared down the Bureaucratic Blob’s insatiable throat, without yielding any appreciable results. The wastage was so egregious that even typically-sycophantic main stream media was motivated to highlight the horrendous Little-hatched hash of our public health system.

But a Little Wellington mayoralty wouldn’t necessarily spell further disaster. Because a Wellington Mayor has only one vote at Council meetings. After the next Wellington local body election in October 2025, there will be 16 Councillors (including the Mayor). The magic number is therefore nine…nine sound, non-Little souls equipped to help haul Wellington out of its hole. That’d be a grassroots, grounded democratic transformation. The stuff of existential nightmares for Woketearoans. But a far Better Wellington.
