Isn't the point of imprisonment to remove, from the prisoner, their freedom plus many other benefits available to law-abiding citizens? One of those benefits is to participate in deciding how our town, city or country should be by run through the exercise of voting. If you are punished for not following the law, why should you be able to vote on/for lawful things? Once a prisoner has done his/her time and is considered rehabilitated, then I'm okay with them fully participating again in society and all that entails. As for cut off dates for signing up to vote, there are cut off dates on many things in life e.g. driver license renewal, paying your mortgage, insurance, arrive at the doctor's office at the appointed time, etc. Somehow, most of us are able to follow a calendar and show up when needed. Showing up on the 13th day before cut off to vote is no different. It's being aware and being accountable.

Very enlightening once again John

I hadn't realised Chris Hipkins had promoted former Deputy Police Commissioner Jevon McSkimming from relative obscurity ....

Presumably, if the allegations that he watched child pornography and bestiality on his work computer are proven, then he will have been doing that during working hours. Might it be possible for the prosecution to seek a refund of the estimated portion of his salary that relates to that activity? (even worse still, imagine he was doing it while claiming overtime!?!).

If Kassie Hartendorp's ActionStation Aotearoa (Action Station Aotearoa Limited) is wholly owned by an incorporated society, ActionStation Aotearoa Incorporated, I think that will give her a tax free structure, won't it? I think that's fair enough when its "income" is from donations. Do you know what she'd gain by acquiring charitable status? Does that, perhaps, make the donations tax deductible to the donors? If so, IMO that effectively means the Govt/taxpayers are subsidising the organisation. Interestingly, that seems to be a very similar structure to InternetNZ, despite that they are operating a commercial enterprise in a seemingly monopoly position.

Turning to FACT Aotearoa, is it possible to confirm the $50K of Govt funding was provided by the then-Labour Govt? I don't think I could ever forgive National if they provided it!*!
